Ratios & Proportions

Ratios show two related measurements. For example, if you go 100 miles on 5 gallons of gas. Proportions project that relationship to new situations, assuming that the relationship stays the same - if one doubles, the other doubles, etc. Proportions are thus like equivalent fractions. The exercises show how to solve them by equivalent fractions, by rates or by cross-multiplication.
