Basic Math Two themes run through all of basic math: (1) counting by like sizes and (2) converting from one size to another through agreed upon rules for grouping and ungrouping. The foundation for this starts with knowing single-digit addition and multiplication. They should be the only things that a student needs to memorize. The rest follows logical rules. In basic math, students can practice single-digit addition in sequence or in random order. |
